Mrs. Kimberley Milks

Dear Westwood Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! I am thrilled to begin another exciting year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences with our students and families. I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer and is ready for all the opportunities that lie ahead.

This year marks my third year as Principal of Westwood Elementary and my third year as a building administrator. Each year has brought new learning experiences, meaningful relationships, and a deeper appreciation for this incredible school community. Over the past two years, I have come to truly understand the pride that comes with being a Duke, and I am grateful for the warm welcome, support, and partnership that our families and community continue to provide.

As I begin this school year, I do so with greater knowledge, stronger relationships, and an even deeper commitment to ensuring every student feels supported, challenged, and valued. Together, our staff remains focused on creating a positive school culture where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I am incredibly proud of the accomplishments we have achieved as a school, including earning the Governor’s Science of Reading Recognition Award and being recognized as a Red Ribbon PBIS School for our efforts to foster a positive climate and culture. These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff, students, and families, and I am excited to continue building on that success.

I earned my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toledo and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Ashland University. While teaching was my first passion, I spent much of my career serving in leadership roles, including building and district leadership teams, PBIS initiatives, and family engagement efforts. Supporting students, staff, and families has always been at the heart of my work.

Outside of school, my husband and I recently celebrated 17 years of marriage. We have four children—two daughters and two sons—who keep our family busy and bring us endless joy. Kiara, 24, is enjoying life on her own. Chaise, 16, is proud to be a Duke and looks forward to representing Wellington on the football and baseball fields. Koltin, 13, is entering his final year of middle school, plans to return to baseball, and has become an avid fisherman. Hailey, 9, is excited to begin third grade and take on the role of one of the older students in the building. Aside from dance, her passion is reading. When our weekends are not filled with sports and dance competitions, I enjoy traveling with my family, exploring new places, staying in unique Air B&Bs, and discovering hidden gems to try new foods.

I am honored to continue serving the Wellington community and look forward to strengthening relationships with our students, staff, and families. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Together, we will make this school year one filled with exciting adventures and learning more with each day. Go Dukes!
